The ‘Queen Mother Champion Chase’
takes place on Wednesday 11th March 2009, the Cheltenham National
Hunt Festival’s second day. The ‘Queen Mother
Champion Chase’ was first run in 1959 and later took
The Queen Mother’s name in 1980, the year of her 80th
birthday. In 2007 praise was heaped on jockey Robert Thornton
after he rode Voy Por Ustedes, across the winning line with
ease, so this year’s Cheltenham Festival Grade 1 event
run over two miles (12 fences) for five year-olds and upwards,
will be an interesting one to watch with the same horse likely
to start favourite.
National hunt racing has a very loyal following
and the quality of Cheltenham hospitality facilities and racing
continues to improve each year making this horse racing meeting
very popular and in demand, therefore there is little availability
so early booking is highly recommended.
